The Professional Standards Committee of the Board receives and investigates complaints against CPAs. You are entitled to be represented by legal counsel during the investigation. If the staff’s investigation does not substantiate the violation, the Committee may recommend that the case be closed. If the complaint is substantiated, the Committe ordinarily instructs the staff to offer a consent order to the CPA.
